To Daddy With Love

Happy Father’s Day to my Daddy!  My Daddy was the person who ferried my sis and me everywhere when we were younger because between he and my mum, he was the one who could drive. What I remember most from the drives were the songs that were always playing on the cassette player. I grew up with 60s pop music such as “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”, “Unchained Melody”, “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”, “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window” etc. My sis and I heard those songs so often that soon we would be singing along to those songs.

We would also have our white poodle Twiggy in the car at times and it was my Daddy who decided to get a dog. Growing up with a dog is where my love of dogs comes from. If I had my own family, I’d also want my children to grow up with dogs.

My Daddy is also a great home cook. When I’m back in Singapore, I always look forward to having home-cooked meals. Although he isn’t an expressive person, he shows his love for his family through food.

Although we don’t always see eye to eye on the same things, at the end of the day, we are still family.

Thank you Daddy.

Love,
M
