I’ve been busy. Primarily with work and school. The subjects I’m taking this semester are more technical in nature, hence I’ve had to spend a lot more time studying at the weekends compared to previous semesters. Gawd, I can’t wait till I finish my studies at the end of 2015. This is my major focus for this year and don’t think I’ll be taking part in any hiking races this year. Frankly, I don’t know how I managed it last year when I juggled work, school, and training for Moontrekker (43km) and the Oxfam Trailwalker (100km). Perhaps I had been in turbo mode. Now I feel as if my engine has worn out and I just need to take it at a less intense pace.
I’m almost two months into my new job. Now I find myself in an investment services firm. Hard core financial shit. How did I end up here? Geez. But I do nothing technical anyway. The nature of my job is still words-related, though the words are about dry stuff. Phrases such as “pension funds”, “asset liability modeling”, and “investment services” are now part of my weekday vocabulary. I’m busier here than I was in my previous job. It’s good to be busy I suppose. Shows you’re needed.
I don’t have much of a social life these days. Or should that be I don’t have a social life?!?!?!!! Yes, it sucks big time.
Anyway, now I’m going to attempt to get one by going for a Saturday hike with a group of hikers.
Happy weekend everyone.
