the different morsels of the life of a foodie

The Rabbit Hole

I work in the CBD area, not far from Barangaroo, and have found my favourite cafe to hang out in for a lunch getaway from the office. Tucked away in a street corner is The Rabbit Hole, as if it’s waiting for customers to burrow their way there.

This charming organic tea bar has a range of teas you can order, from Earl Grey to Oolong to Matcha lattes to floral and herb brews. So far I’ve only tried two – Tumeric, Lemon & Honey and the Matcha latte. The former is my favoured with its mix of earthy spice, citrusy lemon and sweet honey. Marry that brew with a rich chocolate fudge brownie and I’m one happy being.

This brownie is one of the best I’ve ever had. And trust me I’ve had quite a few over the years. The dried rose petals not only add a touch of elegance and beauty, but they also enhance the taste and olfactory element as you have a faint taste and smell of roses that accompany the rich chocolate flavour once you bite into the brownie. Adding some crunch and flavour are the crushed walnuts in the brownie mix.

Also a must-try is their mini yuzu tarts. This morsel of a tart is so pretty and buttery – definitely a good pick-me-up if you are feeling blue.

The staff there are always friendly and it’s always a joy to pop in for a tea and pastry fix.
