Samar

After leaving that Russian restaurant mentioned in yesterday's post, my dining companions and I went in search for some dessert. I mean, no meal's complete without dessert, right?

We settled on Samar, a Morrocan restaurant at Baghdad Street just adjacent to Arab Street.

With its Morrocan furnishings and decor, the place had a nice ambience but it was just a tad warm, stuffy, and uncomfortable without air conditioning. The ceiling fans were not very effective in combating the heat of the night.

We thought we would be in for a better time at Samar, but we were led to disappointment yet again. The four of us ordered a dessert each and one of my friends ordered a cup of coffee.

After a century, we were told that they didn't have the hazelnut mousse and blueberry cheesecake we ordered. We were so tired of waiting already that we didn't want to look at the menu again to order something else. After repeated remindings, my friend's coffee still never came. The chocolate truffle another friend ordered also took ages to come. I mean, come on, how long does it take for you to put a slice of cake on the plate?

When the chocolate truffle was served, we asked the waiter which dessert this was (as it could have been the hazelnut mousse) and he was like, "I don't know." Aaarrrggghhh!!!! How dumb can this people get??? They don't even know their stuff!

And I can't believe these waiters and waitresses take so long with the orders when they don't even seem very busy. We noticed many of them just standing around. Like WHAT are you doing????

So Saturday night's dining experience was just horrible to say the least.

Samar is not Moroccan, it's Arab :) There's a Moroccan restaurant too around the Arab Street area, but it's name is not Samar :) It's cheaper there too however you can't expect the standard of decor to be the same though ;) Posted by: BeenToSamar at May 13, 2005 2:56 AM
