Fun With My Friends

Friday and Saturday were spent with my dear friends Monoceros, Overacuppa, VanTan & D. We're trying to get D to start a blog since the rest of us have one already. In a way, our blogs help us to keep in touch with one another and so we're egging her on to get one started!

We met for dinner on Friday night and it's been about a year since the five of us got together. It was at Monoceros' wedding last July which saw all of us in Singapore at the same time. It's like an annual reunion since Overacuppa usually only drops by Singapore once a year.

We ate at an Indonesian restaurant which at first D was sceptical about 'cos there weren't many people inside when we reached there. But I assured the rest of them that I had eaten there before and it's pretty good. After tasting the food, they concurred with me. I mean, I of all people would never eat at places which serve bad food! Haha!

After dinner, we adjourned to Coffee Club for dessert. VanTan, Monoceros & I had a lovely cup of hazelnut cinnamon latte each, while D & Overacuppa had a delicious-smelling pot of morning dew tea each. We also had a piece of chocolate cake and chocolate fondue to share. I love dipping those pieces of cut fruit in the fondue. Good fun! Anyhow, it was all very delicious. Terribly indulgent night of gastronomy, but who cares? It was a fantastic night -- nothing beats the company of close friends and good food.

On Saturday afternoon, Overacuppa, D & I went to Monoceros' house to view her wedding videos. We were in stitches as we viewed the videos and reminisced about the going-ons of Monoceros' wedding.

At this point, I also have to remind Monoceros to look at her milk cartons more carefully in future. Intending to serve us soya bean milk, our hostess mistakenly served us fresh milk instead. Ever the sharp taster, I sensed something amiss as I drank it. Actually it's 'cos I usually don't drink cow's milk and I don't like the smell of it. Haha...it was pretty funny....our little Monoceros was quite embarrassed....but no worries my friend! ;p

Overacuppa, D & I then left Monoceros' place and the three of us went to have dinner before we headed back to my place where I went to get the car and proceeded to drive us three to the Night Safari.

The Night Safari was good fun! It was Overacuppa's first visit whilst D & I had been there before. Still, it didn't make it any less enjoyable. Sitting in the tram and having the deers, antelopes, cranes, tapirs etc roaming in such close proximity was quite an amazing experience.

The funniest part of the night was when we were in the bat enclosure. Overacuppa & D were terrified at the thought of going in but I egged them on by leading the way in. One of the bats flew really low and we had to crouch or else it would have flown into us! But that really scared the wits out of the two of them and they were rather hysterical. D's terrified facial expression would do well in a Hitchcock film. Haha.

The fun-filled day ended with me sending the two girls home before heading home and snuggling into my bed.

Moonlight
A full moon lits the Mandai area in which the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are located.

ha ha ha. That was so NOT funny in the bat enclosure ok. I was totally freaked out and regreting the second, I stepped into the enclosure. And the stupid bat charging at full speed towards the 3 of us so did not help. It will be like the silliest thing to happen if that stupid bat really slammed into us and bit one of us and we ended up as the cover story of Sunday's papers. Man, we will never be able to live down the embarrassment!! Posted by: D at July 4, 2004 7:08 PM
heee did you see that big scary bat swooping down and passing us in the front? and D just simply got stuck at the exit and i was desperately trying to get out but D was in my way... that was funny... heeeeee heee... 'Joan of Arc'--- hey Veejay (the guide) got your name right!!! whooohooo!!! *wink* Posted by: overacuppa (aka tiggie) at July 4, 2004 7:16 PM
yeah, i saw that bat swooping down of us. I was very perplexed as to why D didn't want to get out seeing that she was so terrified. That was so hilarious! If only i caught her expression at the exit! That would have been a classic! And yeah, I was surprised by Veejay! Good on him! ;) Posted by: DSD at July 4, 2004 9:14 PM
Wow, great to hear you three had such fun at the night safari! The bat episode indeed! Glad you all survived! Ha! It was such a fun weekend. Only the milk ruined it. =) Posted by: V Heng at July 5, 2004 10:08 AM
I didn't like dash out of the enclosure coz I thot it led to another part of the enclosure with even MORE bats!!! Brain was too numb with fear to think already. Nah, van, the milk was ok. I like to drink milk actually. at least it was still fresh and its not like u gave us sour milk lah!!! Posted by: D at July 6, 2004 12:46 AM
