In the past couple of days, I've met up with friends from secondary school, junior college and uni. It's been nice catching up with the different groups of friends from the different points of my life. Last night, I met up with Monoceros who's back from Michigan for her winter break and Desiree. Well, it was a mini-reunion of sorts since the group wasn't complete. May's in Germany at the moment while Vanessa was busy with work and couldn't make it yesterday. Still, it was nice to be able to meet up and reminisce about Monoceros' wedding 5 months back.
Apart from meeting up with friends, I've been indulging in lots of TV-watching. I know I know, it's very bad and I've almost metamophorised into a spud on that couch, but I'm hooked on this Cantonese drama series which my sister rented. It's been such a long time since I watched a drama series in Cantonese and it's just so nice to watch a Hong Kong series in its original dialogue. Those shown in Singapore are always dubbed in Mandarin and somehow it's just not as nice as the original. I hate the stupid policy of banning Chinese dialects on radio and TV. On one hand, the government wants us Singaporean Chinese to hold on to our culture and traditions as much as possible, and then they have such policies which totally negates all that. Dumb dumb dumb.
So anyway, apart from the fact that I'm relishing watching a drama series in Cantonese, the shows that are produced in HongKong are so much more interesting and nicer to watch than the ones in Singapore. I really must give credit to the scriptwriters in HongKong. They are fantastic! The plot and the dialogue are so good and kudos too to the artistes who bring the characters to life. The drama series produced in Singapore really pale in comparison, so I don't bother watching them.
Well, I'll have to make sure this marathon TV-watching is not going to be a regular affair 'cos it's way too unhealthy. Tonight I'll be going to watch the film Mona Lisa Smile. Monomania got two free tickets to the preview and she has very kindly asked me along.
So yes, time to get ready to scoot out!
