It's Chicken

So it was with much disappointment when I realised I wasn't going to have an intelligent and good-looking hunk whom I could have a good conversation with sitting next to me on the plane. Instead I had this Indian man who was constantly complaining about his food sitting next to me.

He was en route to Mumbai, and he had a Hindi meal because of his religion. First, he couldn't tell beef from chicken in the lunch that was served. Halfway into the meal he goes, "I think this is beef." I looked at it and said, "No, this is chicken." He didn't look convinced. I repeated the sentence "This is chicken" twice. Still wasn't convinced. He asked his friend sitting in front. They spoke in Hindi so I didn't understand but I suppose his friend must have assured him it was chicken as he continued to tuck into the meal, scraping off every single grain of rice from the tray.

After the meal, he said that there was too little food and added that Indians eat a lot. Two hours later he complained that he was hungry and muttered about the small amount of food that was being served.

When refreshments were served, he complained again about his meal saying it was bland. I offered him my sandwich as I wasn't going to eat it. But he said he didn't like the Turkish bread nor the croissant. He kept saying how bad the food was and it's not worth the money he paid for Singapore Airlines. He said he should have flown Air India instead as the food's much better. Don't know about that, but it's definitely Singapore Airlines for me whenever possible!

It was quite amusing to me. When I board a plane, there's a sense of fun in anticipating who will be sitting next to me. Of course I'm always hoping for some gorgeous hunk with brains to match, but so far no luck. ;p

Anyway, so now it's back in Singapore where the skies are overcast. It keeps threatening to rain. How unlike the blue skies in Sydney. I'm missing it already. I've started the annoying task of unpacking and now have things strewn all around my room.

Earlier in the afternoon I posted my JET programme application to the Japanese Embassy. I'm crossing my fingers on that one.
