Back Online

Finally I'm back online! Due to a faulty splitor (whatever that is) of Telstra's cable line, there wasn't internet access at home for the past three days. Was beginning to get Net withdrawal symptoms.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back.

Yesterday was quite an eventful day. In the morning, I went horse-riding at Glenworth Valley which is 40 minutes north by car from where I live. I went with a friend who has a spiffy Honda CRV and I got a chance to drive it. My first time driving a 4WD - loved it! It was fun zipping down the freeway with so little traffic.

It was nice to get out of the city for a change and just having lush vegetation surrounding me. The horses grazing the open space gave the place an idyllic feel to it.

In the first hour of the trail ride, we had a guide and the horses listened to him when he got them to trot and canter. In the second hour, we were left on our own and the horses refused to trot and canter when told to do so. My friend and I kept kicking our horses but they refused to move faster. We could have done a faster walk on our own. It was pretty frustrating. Eventually we gave up and we left them to plod along slowly while we enjoyed the wilderness around us. We also saw a wallaby hopping past, so that was quite exciting.

In the evening, I met up with Adrian and we had dinner at Woolloomoolloo Wharf. It's a nice place near the Opera House with many good restaurants. And just a bit of trivia, Russell Crowe has a penthouse apartment nearby.

Adrian brought me to this Japanese noodle house which is known for the handmade soba. We ordered a set where the soba was served in two bowls. One in hot soup with tempura and the other was cold soba. The soba was delicious! After two bowls of soba each, Adrian and I were stuffed. We felt like a long string of soba.

After dinner, we took a short walk to the Opera House to watch the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Choir perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. The performance was fantastic especially with the choir accompanying the orchestra in the last movement.

Had a great day yesterday!

I've been meaning to comment on how lovely these pictures are! The noodles look so yummy (can you remember where this place is? I'd love to go if I ever visit Sydney one day) and the blue sky, heavenly!

The noodle house is called Shimbashi and it's located at Woolloomoolloo Wharf (pictured above). And yeah, the blue skies are heavenly! There's nothing quite like it. :)
